Our story
The story of Tayta Tuico
The birth of Tayta Tuico Glamping Quilotoa, in the lands of Torre Loma, overlooking the rim of the Quilotoa lagoon crater.
The origin of the name
Why is it called that?
Tayta means "father" in the Kichwa language; Tuico is the name this corner of the land carries. Together, Tayta Tuico = Father Tuico, like an embrace of the territory that shelters us, cares for us and gives us life. It is the name of the inherited land, the voice of the ancestors and the spirit that guides this project.

The birth of Tayta Tuico Glamping Quilotoa
Tayta Tuico rises in the lands of Torre Loma, a place overlooking the rim of the Quilotoa lagoon crater, which for a long time remained silent and abandoned. Families left in search of better opportunities in the city, leaving these lands waiting.
As the years went by, when the beauty of Quilotoa began to be known and visited, Tayta Tuico dreamed of bringing life back to this corner. Together with other members of the community, he promoted the creation of the Community Tourism Services Association Comuna Ponce Quilotoa — Torre Loma, initially made up of 185 people from the area.
The road was not easy: before, only the Chakiñan, the ancestral trail, existed. Thanks to the constant work of Tayta Tuico, the support of the community president, the effort of every member and the backing of the Autonomous Decentralized Parochial Government, the road connecting Torre Loma with the world was opened. It was work, patience and unity.
However, for eight years the association could not boost tourism due to a lack of its own resources and scarce external support. Slowly, after the pandemic, many drifted away. Today the association remains alive with 50 members, all children of the Comuna Ponce Quilotoa.
Faced with this situation, Tayta Tuico decided to keep going with perseverance and faith. On the inherited lands, with God's blessing and the support of his family, Tayta Tuico Glamping Quilotoa was born. Five cabins were built, designed to offer the best direct view of the lagoon, surrounded by the majesty of the Andean landscape: a modern, welcoming space full of soul, so that tourists from Ecuador and the world can find here peace, beauty and the heart of our land.
